A meeting of the Motorcycle Safety Consultative Committee with the National Road Safety Council was held in Melbourne on Tuesday 15th June. The MSCC members made a presentation to the NRSC, along with our recommendations for actions leading into the next road safety strategy (2011-2020)
Wayne Gardiner is a member of the NRSC, and he chaired our two hour segment with the council. The main focus of our presentation was on the seven outcomes from the 2008 Canberra Motorcycle and Scooter Safety Summit, and while we can’t be sure of what the outcomes will be, all the members of the MSCC felt that our presentation was well received. We focussed our discussion on examination of whether there were particular things we should try and address sooner rather than later. We’re now waiting to see what news comes back. It’s expected that we will meet with the NRSC each year as well.
The members of the MSCC are Shaun Lennard, Tony Ellis, Bruce Gaskin, Neville Gray, Guy Stanford, Jen Woods and Dave Wright – along with Rhys Griffiths from the FCAI and Matt Bennett from Motorcycling Australia – all of whom assisted with our presentation.
