Statement of awareness

“The MRA ACT is concerned and distressed at the recent spate of motorcycle crashes in the ACT. The death of a young rider earlier this week and serious injuries sustained by a rider and pillion highlight a lack of attention by other road users who are simply not seeing motorcyclists on the road. In relation to the crash in Page, Police have asked for assistance:

“Police are seeking to locate the driver of a white or silver Holden Commodore sedan, possibly an early 1990s model, which was involved in the incident but failed to stop and render assistance. There was one male driving the vehicle at the time of the incident.

Any witnesses who may have seen the vehicle as described, or may have any information about the incident and can assist the investigation is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.”

We simply cannot stand by and be ignored by other road users. We are outraged that a driver, after causing a serious crash, simply drove away, and we call upon the whole ACT community to look out for motorcyclists, be aware and alert. If you have any information about the crash in Page, we urge you to contact Police.

Our thoughts are with the family of the young rider who lost his life”
