A recent report by the Commissioner of Sustainability and the Environment (ACT Government) has urged Canberrans to “stop the one item shop” when they travel by car and thereby reduce the impact on the environment.
The MRA ACT supports that and would encourage Canberra’s commuters to use scooters and motorcycles for those trips, given their lighter footprint, and reduced environmental impact.

Glad to hear they are promoting people to use scooters and bikes. The draw back is being able to park… From what I have seen Canberra is lacking in motorcycle parking. With every new building that goes up they put in basement parking but don’t accomodate for bikes/scooters.
Reality is cars don’t like bikes taking a parking space. Paying for parking causes the age old problem of where to display it, even with those parking holders the tickets can still be taken. Yes, bikes can share a car space but which bike pays for the parking… or is it they expect both bikes to pay and then they get double the revenue for one space.. I suppose the simple answer is provide more parking for bikes.
