Subject: Wire Rope Barriers

Dear all,

I informed you a few weeks ago that I would follow up further on the issue of wire rope barriers. I wrote to the Minister about the issue. The Government has today responded with the attached letter.

We have achieved some progress. You will see from the letter that the Government has now agreed to trialling plastic barriers on the WRBs to cover the gap between the uprights and it will progress this through collaboration with the Victorian Government.  This may result in permanent installation of these barriers.

I have requested the Minister make contact with the ACT MRA about the details of this trial (as well as to provide the Greens with further details about how the trial will work).

I believe it will important for you to continue making representations to the Government during and after the trial and I would appreciate it if you keep in contact with the Greens as well. I am very interested in seeing the best outcomes for safety and the community.

Kind regards,

Amanda Bresnan
